Jan Shrader went to be with her Lord & Savior on Wednesday morning July 11, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday July 16, 2012 at Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard.
Jan was born February 25, 1927 in North Tazewell Va., the daughter of the late Jeffrey and Eva Ratcliff Sawyer. She graduated from Tazewell High School in 1945.
She married John Ralph Shrader from Bishop, Va., on June 11, 1945 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where John was stationed during World War II. Jan and John brought their family to the Canton, Ohio area in 1955. They moved to the Hartford, Ohio area in 1964 where they have resided for 48 years.
Jan was an active member of Corner House Christian Church. She taught Sunday School and Children’s Church. She also managed the decorating of the church for holidays and special events.
From the 1970’s to the 1990’s, Jan was well known as the proprietor of Rebel Hill Farm Antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Landon Sawyer of North Tazewell, Va., Bowen, Jack and Daniel Sawyer all of Canton, Ohio, sisters Frances Farley of North Tazewell, Va. and Dorothy Catron of Roanoke Va.
Jan is survived by her devoted husband John Shrader, her daughter Anola (James) Lauer of Westerville, Ohio, and her two sons; Daniel (Janet) Shrader of Vancouver, Washington. Stephen (Susan) Shrader of Hartford, Ohio.
She also leaves her loving memories with her cherished grandchildren, Stephen J. (Amanda) Shrader, Ryan J. (Wendie) Shrader, Justin Shrader, Nolan (Tara) Shrader, Sarah (Steven) Andrews, and John Lauer. Jan also leaves 6 great-grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter.
Jan is also survived by three sisters, Darlas Pearman of Midland, Texas; Leona Grant of Canton, Ohio, and Ann (Donald) Willet of Tallmadge, Ohio.
Jan’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley; as well as their family and friends from Corner House Christian Church for their care and support given to Jan during the past months. Because of their help and care Jan was able to spend her last days in the comfort of her home with her loving family.
There will be calling hours Sunday July 15, 2012 from 4-7PM at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard, and Monday one hour prior to the service from 12 Noon to 1PM at Corner House Christian Church.
Burial will be at Corner House Christian Church Cemetery, in Hubbard.
